ABOUT John

Commonwealth National Commercial Services is pleased to welcome John Whisman Jr., Esq. to the team as SVP, Senior Underwriting Counsel and Title Operations Manager with Commonwealth NCS California. John brings more than a decade of experience in commercial real estate title, underwriting, and transaction management.

John previously served as a Vice President with a national commercial title platform, supporting institutional and national clients throughout Northern California markets. Since 2013, he has been recognized for his depth of expertise in commercial underwriting, risk analysis, and complex transaction management, advising clients across a wide range of asset classes.

John’s professional background includes senior underwriting leadership roles, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of title operations, underwriting standards, and the legal considerations impacting sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. In addition to his title industry experience, John has practiced law in a private practice setting, advising clients on real estate and transactional matters. A licensed California attorney, he is known for delivering practical, solutions-oriented guidance while collaborating closely with clients and internal teams.

In his new role at Commonwealth NCS, John will leverage his underwriting, legal, and operational experience to further strengthen the California and Arizona commercial platform, providing strategic underwriting oversight, people mentorship, and operational management in support of client relations. He will also play a key role in mentoring and managing underwriting and operations professionals across the region. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, and they reside in Northern California.
